How being embodied is about looking within

How being embodied can shift everything

The beauty of yoga is that all you need to do is witness your body and be present with your breath.

Then, a shift of awareness brings new insights into what’s REALLY going on.

Sitting with your thoughts, and redirecting those thoughts back to the body can be uncomfortable for those of us who have “things to do.” We’ve gotten so busy that we steamroll over the necessary steps of processing emotion. We stop feeling where experience lives in the physical body.

“Your issues are in your tissues. This is a scientific fact. Whether you struggle with trauma, anxiety, depression, an eating disorder or some other mental health challenge. Being fully alive means being connected with all of who you are…body, heart and mind.” Rachel Shanken, from Mind Body Wise

After sitting with difficult emotions, we can notice where those feelings show up in your body through an embodied experience. Perhaps anxiety registers as tight shoulders or sadness a constriction in the throat.

Even happiness and gratitude “live” as physical sensations. It may be bubbling up in the heart or tingling in the hands.

When this awareness happens, we call it, “being embodied.”

And, being embodied can bring you back to the original source of those inner patterns.

By being present with those patterns and not letting “the story” chime in, we can start to open up space for new thoughts when a similar, triggering situation arises.

The true practice of yoga brings you up close to YOU

Maybe step into the unknown and space for discomfort as you turn your gaze inwards.

Practice remaining fully present in your own body. This is the art of being embodied.

Drop into this present moment, to take a look at your habits of guilt, suffering, fear & false beliefs of unworthiness.

Begin to break those sticky emotional addictions within. Create a new path for your mind to follow: one of self-acceptance, compassion, and higher levels of empowerment. And, when those paths are followed, the body sits up at attention and soaks in the energy of healing.
